Build your quit plan
- Pick a quit date within the next two weeks.
- Identify triggers: coffee, stress, driving, drinking, after meals.
- Plan replacements: a walk, gum, a glass of water, a call to a friend.
- Remove cigarettes, vapes and lighters from home and car.
- Tell people who can support you.
- Start medicine as planned.

Medicines that help
- Nicotine replacement: patches, gum, lozenges, inhaler or nasal spray; combining a patch with a short-acting form is most effective.
- Varenicline: reduces cravings and the pleasure of smoking; started a week before quitting.
- Bupropion: an antidepressant that also helps people quit.
These work for vaping too.
Handling cravings
Cravings usually pass within 5 to 10 minutes. Delay, breathe deeply, drink water and do something else. Withdrawal symptoms such as irritability and poor sleep peak in the first week and ease over a few weeks.

How we can help
We help you choose the right medicine, prescribe it by telehealth, and check in during the hardest first weeks. Members can message us when cravings hit. Free coaching is also available at 1-800-QUIT-NOW.
Questions people ask
Is vaping safer than smoking?
Vaping exposes you to fewer toxins than smoking, but it is not harmless, and nicotine is addictive. The best goal is to stop both.
How soon do I feel the benefits?
Heart rate and carbon monoxide levels improve within days, breathing improves within weeks, and heart risk drops substantially within a year.
What if I slip up?
A slip is not failure. Get back on track the same day and learn from what triggered it.
