Common myths
- “Vitamin C megadoses prevent colds.” Regular vitamin C may slightly shorten colds, but does not prevent them for most people.
- “Zinc lozenges work for everyone.” They may shorten colds if started early, but high doses cause side effects.
- “Detox cleanses boost immunity.” Your liver and kidneys already do this; cleanses add nothing.
- “Echinacea and elderberry prevent illness.” Evidence is weak or mixed.
- “You can boost immunity in a few days.” Immune health builds over time from everyday habits.

What actually works
- Vaccines: flu, COVID-19 and others recommended for your age and health.
- Sleep: 7 to 9 hours a night.
- Exercise: about 150 minutes of moderate activity a week.
- Diet: fruit, vegetables, whole grains, protein and healthy fats.
- Stress management: chronic stress weakens immune responses.
- No smoking and limited alcohol.
- Handwashing to avoid infections in the first place.
When supplements help
Vitamin D, B12, iron or zinc supplements help when you are low. Testing first avoids guesswork. See our guides to vitamin D and ferritin and iron.

How we can help
We help you keep vaccines up to date, test for genuine deficiencies, and build habits that support long-term health. Our functional wellness service takes a whole-person, evidence-based approach.
If a test shows you are low in B12, B12 injections are one way to correct it. They do not boost immunity when your level is normal.
Questions people ask
Can I boost my immune system quickly?
Not really. Consistent sleep, exercise, diet and vaccines support it over time.
Are immune-boosting IV drips worth it?
For healthy people, evidence is limited. We only recommend IV therapy when there is a clear reason.
Does stress really affect immunity?
Yes. Long-term stress can make you more susceptible to infections.
